Bemo Securitisation (BSEC) was distinctively
awarded “Best Investment Bank in Lebanon for 2002”
On Tuesday, the 17th of December 2002, Bemo Securitisation
(BSEC) was distinctively awarded “Best Investment Bank in
Lebanon for 2002”. Data and Investment Consult Lebanon announced
the award during the gala dinner that followed the Beirut Strategic
Forum 2003 held at the Monroe Hotel, Beirut.
After the stunning success of the first two securitisation
transactions, Indigo Trust Fund and CLON-1, launched on the Lebanese
financial market respectively in April and in November 2002, BSEC
was awarded as the best Investment Bank in Lebanon for 2002. BSEC
is the first institution to set up locally structured derivative
instruments and is fast becoming the region’s lead expert
in Securitisation. BSEC’s activity is based on three complementary
pillars: Securitisation, Equity and Credit Derivatives, and Cross-border
Structured Finance.
“BSEC earned this award albeit the current
uncertain economic environment and the tough market conditions.
Our achievements for 2002 should not only be measured by the closing
of the first two securitisation transactions, but by the number
and size of the mandates we have won; this year Bemo Securitisation
won mandates for USD 360 million”, explained Mr. Iyad Boustany,
Director and Vice-President of BSEC. “We have also developed
the Fiduciary Securitisation Framework© (FSF), a unique proprietary
structure designed to enable and facilitate the Securitisation of
assets and whole business transactions utilizing enacted Lebanese
Fiduciary Laws. It is worth noting that this FSF technology is protected
as intellectual property under Lebanese Intellectual Property Protection
Act and has been registered with the Ministry of Economy”.
“Behind our achievement there is a man and
a team. The man behind this success is Mr. Riad Obegi, our Chairman.
Whereas for the team, it is composed of Miss. Roula Sleiman, Marketing
& Sales Manager (and her department), Mr. Ibrahim Mardam-Bey,
Senior Representative for the ME (and his department), Mr. Abdallah
Nassif, Senior Analyst-Head of Structuring Desk (and his department),
and last but not least Dr Nasri Diab and his law firm with whom
we would like to share this award”, Mr. Boustany added.
Bemo Securitisation was established in 1994 under
Lebanese law and is regulated by Central Bank of Lebanon and listed
on the Central Bank’s list of Financial Institutions under
No 9; it is also a member of the Association of Financial Institutions
in Lebanon (AFIL).
