Federated Investors, Inc. Hires Senior-Level Investment
Professional for New Position
(PITTSBURGH, PA, September 11, 2003) -- Federated Investors, Inc.,
(NYSE: FII), announced today that Michael R. Granito has joined
the company as senior vice president and head of capital market
research. The announcement was made by Keith “Kim” Schappert,
president and/or CEO of Federated’s investment advisory organizations.
In his new role as head of capital markets research at Federated,
Granito, 51, will report to Schappert and work with the firm’s
investment units and sales team to develop and enhance investment
products and strategies with a specific focus on developing a more
robust institutional product and service offering. He will expand
a risk management framework to benefit the firm and its clients,
while providing strategic advice and customized solutions to Federated’s
broad client base, with a concentration on the bank trust business
as well as pension plans.
“Mike Granito is a highly qualified and experienced investment
professional with a reputation for using leading edge investment
technology and innovation to design creative solutions to his clients’
problems,” Schappert said. “Our ability to attract Mike
to Federated tangibly demonstrates our ongoing commitment to helping
our clients by providing top-tier investment performance and value
added client service.”
Granito, who has more than 25 years in the investment business,
joins Federated from J. P. Morgan, where he was most recently head
of capital market research at Morgan Investment Management, the
unit responsible for introducing new investment technology and products
to that organization’s asset management business. In his role
at Morgan, he oversaw the development and introduction of key equity,
fixed income and asset allocation products.
Previously, Granito was responsible for Morgan’s Strategic
Investment Advisory Group, a client consulting arm that worked closely
with institutional clients to develop investment solutions to pension
funding and other issues. He was also co-head of Morgan’s
Fiduciary Services business, which tapped Morgan’s expertise
in pension management to manage client pension assets on a fully
outsourced basis.
