Felsberg e Associados announces new partner in the Rio de Janeiro office

Uploaded September 5, 2003 - David L. Meiler was elected partner in the Rio de Janeiro office of Felsberg e Associados, a renowned Brazilian law firm based in São Paulo with offices in Rio de Janeiro and Washington, D.C.


Mr. Meiler received his law degree from the Federal University of Paraná and a masters in law (LL.M.) from the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. Mr. Meiler is a specialist in the area of international commercial law, with a significant practice in the area of Oil & Gas law. Mr. Meiler has been associated with the firm of Felsberg e Associados since September 2002.


In addition to his private law practice, Mr. Meiler is also a professor of post-graduate studies at IBMEC-RJ, where he teaches a course on International Business Transactions.

Brazilian Bankruptcy Law Lecture in New York

After completing a round of lectures in Paris, Madrid and Zurich, attorney Thomas Felsberg arrived at the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in New York City on March 25 to lecture on the new Brazilian insolvency law, which was recently approved by the Brazilian House of Representatives. Felsberg also addressed changes that will be made to the Brazilian tax code in order to adapt tax laws to the new insolvency framework. Felsberg then met at the Cornell Club in Manhattan with a select group of corporate executives to analyze how the new Brazilian bankruptcy law would effect international investments and businesses in Brazil.

One of the most recognized specialists in Brazil for the judicial restructuring and financing of companies, Felsberg is the founding partner of the law firm Felsberg, Pedretti, Mannrich e Aidar Advogados Associados, which has offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Washington D.C. In January of this year, Felsberg was contracted to represent the international food giant Parmalat’s reorganization efforts in Brazil.
