Market-Leading CDO/CLO Derivatives
Practice Joins McKee Nelson
Laurence Isaacson, leader in the CDO arena, brings team of lawyers
to broaden the firm’s structured finance offerings
New York, NY, June 25, 2003 -- Laurence B. Isaacson,
former head of structured finance and securitization at Fried Frank
Harris Shriver & Jacobson, today announced that he is joining
McKee Nelson LLP. This move reunites Isaacson and his former mentor
and partner, Edward M. De Sear, who joined McKee Nelson a month
ago. De Sear was most recently chairman of the structured finance
group at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP. Joining Isaacson
in McKee Nelson’s New York office will be partner Andrew S.
Kwok and their team of associates. Eric Rubenfeld, formerly of Fried
Frank’s Washington, D.C. office, will join McKee Nelson’s
D.C. office as a Counsel.
Isaacson and Kwok concentrate their practice in
structured finance, particularly in the development, offering and
sale of collateralized debt offerings, structured investment vehicles
and other structured products. Isaacson’s and Kwok’s
clients have included Bank One, Credit Suisse First Boston, Deutsche
Bank, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and other institutional
participants in the structured finance market.
McKee Nelson already has a significant presence
in capital markets and securitization, having ranked #1 by number
of deals in Thomson Financial’s 2002 year-end rankings in
the representation of underwriters for both mortgage-backed and
asset-backed securities. For the first quarter of 2003, it ranked
first as underwriters’ counsel for all U.S. debt, equity and
equity-related securities combined.
Remarking on the addition of Isaacson and Kwok,
Reed Auerbach, managing partner of McKee Nelson’s New York
office, said, “Larry is known throughout the industry for
his creativity, market leadership and commitment to client service.
Larry, Andrew and their team add to the breadth and depth of our
practice and will help further our commitment to provide our clients
with the highest level of service across all asset types.”
Isaacson credits his decision to the passionate
commitment of McKee Nelson to build a market-leading capital markets
practice. “We are joining McKee Nelson because of its market
leadership in asset-backed securities and structured finance. It
will be an exciting platform to expand and diversify our practice.
This is going to be fun.”
