Sidley Austin Brown & Wood
Expands Property Finance Department

LONDON – (27 January 2003) International law firm Sidley Austin Brown & Wood is pleased to announce that further to the appointment of Mark Menhennet and Debbie Carslaw, the firm has also appointed a further seven associates who will concentrate in the area of property finance. Jane Allan, Charlotte Beeston, Pamela Clarke, James Bucke, Eleanor Hunwicks, Elizabeth Sweeney and Simon Tweedle will be joining the firm throughout January and February 2003.

This means that the London office can now offer a property finance team comprising more than 15 lawyers. The team is experienced in dealing with the financing elements of transactions secured on real estate, including drafting and negotiating credit agreements and associated security documents as well as dealing with all the real estate related aspects of such transactions.
Mark and Debbie in particular, will focus on the origination on behalf of banks and other lending institutions of loans and mortgages secured upon commercial real estate. The loans include bi-lateral and syndicated facilities and, increasingly, loans originated for the purpose of ultimate securitisation by the originating bank/financial institutions.

Graham Penn, Co-Head of the International Finance Group, states: “We are delighted to welcome the new property finance team members to the firm, as the expanded team will give us a greater capacity to provide real estate support to our commercial mortgage backed securitisation practice, our corporate practice and our growing international corporate reorganisation practice. Furthermore, we are excited at the prospect of continued growth of the London practice throughout 2003 and beyond.”
