Tavakoli Launches Structured Finance
Consulting Firm

Janet Tavakoli, former head of Financial Engineering for the Global
Capital Markets Group of Westdeutsche Landesbank in London, opened
a new consulting firm dedicated to structured finance issues. Tavakoli
Structured Finance, Inc., is a Chicago based firm with New York
and Chicago clients including hedge funds, banks, insurance companies
and asset managers. Ms. Tavakoli left WestLB in July.
Ms. Tavakoli formed the company to advise investors on complicated
over-the-counter transactions related to credit including synthetic
collateralized debt obligations, and credit derivatives. She also
advises clients on special purpose vehicles.
She has over 22 years of experience in finance, with more than 18
years of Wall Street experience trading, structuring, and selling
complicated derivative structures. She is a former adjunct associate
professor of finance at the University of Chicago’s Graduate
School of Business where she taught: Derivatives: Futures, Forwards,
Options and Swaps.
Ms. Tavakoli holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Illinois
Institute of Technology and an MBA in Finance from the University
of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.
