White & Case, London Hires New Capital Markets Partner
25/03/03
LONDON: White & Case today announced the election
of Tim Jeveons as a new partner in the firm's capital markets group,
giving the group a total of eight partners and 24 associates.
The group has countered the downturn in the equity
markets by developing a strong, highly respected structured finance
practice, a market leader in European CDOs, and building on a first
class reputation in sovereign bonds, emerging markets and debt and
equity. Tim's experience in acting for underwriters on a broad range
of mature market and emerging market issuances, as well as European
Tier 1 issues and convertibles will further enhance the group's
ability to offer clients the full range of capital markets products.
In addition to the recruitment of Tim, and David
Barwise, who joined from Linklaters in January 2003, the London
capital markets group has attracted more than 15 new associates
in the past 12 months from firms such as Clifford Chance, Allen
& Overy, Linklaters, and Cadwalader. The group has also grown
organically through the election of London-based US-qualified Josh
Kiernan to the partnership at the beginning of this year.
The capital markets group had an excellent year
in 2002. As well as acting on some of the key securities offerings
in Russia, Kazakhstan, and other emerging markets, and continuing
its successful sovereign bond franchise, the group has acted on
several landmark CDOs including the largest managed synthetic CDO
to date. Cheyne Investment Grade CDO I Ltd; and the largest European
collateralised debt obligation. Duchess I CDO S.A. The group also
represented forest products company Stora Enso in the whole business
securitisation of its forest assets in Finland. This groundbreaking
transaction was the first time forest assets have been securitised
in a whole business securitisation transaction and the first whole
business securitisation transaction in Finland. 2003 has already
started strongly in all these areas.
"Joining White & Case is a great move for
me", said new partner, Tim Jeveons. "The firm offers the
opportunity to develop my practice and work with some of the most
talented lawyers in my field".
"Recruiting Tim is in line with our strategy
to develop our capital markets and structured finance capability
and expertise across Europe" , explained co-head of the London
capital markets group, Rachel Hatfield. "Tim is well known
to, and respected by, a number of our clients".
"Despite the down market we are working on
a number of major deals which attracts top quality lawyers",
said co-head of the London capital markets group, Francis Fitzherbert-Brockholes.
"Building on last year's period of accelerated growth in London,
the firm is continuing to pursue a strategy of planned expansion
relative to clients' needs".
Previously a senior associate at Linklaters, Tim
has experience of advising both lead managers and issuers in respect
of debt and equity related debt in the international capital markets.
